SMP Frequently asked questions

What is SMP?

Scalp micropigmentation (SMP) is a non-surgical hair loss treatment that uses tiny, specialized needles to implant pigment into the scalp. The pigment is designed to replicate the look of real hair follicles, giving the appearance of a full head of hair. It is a safe and effective way to restore the look of a full head of hair, and can be used to treat a variety of hair loss conditions.

Does SMP look realistic?

Absolutely! By placing the correct amount of pigment and “dots” per square inch and color matching the pigment to your skin tone, the results are a realistic, full head of hair. The result looks like a freshly shaved head of hair, or a buzz cut. As well, having a SMP Hair Density treatment will add fullness and density to thinning hair.

Does SMP hurt?

SMP treatments are virtually painless, with most clients reporting only minimal discomfort. Our technicians are highly trained and use the most advanced techniques to ensure the highest level of comfort throughout the procedure. We use a combination of topical numbing creams, ice packs, and gentle pressure to make sure the experience is as easy and pain-free as possible.

How long does SMP last for?

Cosmetic tattooing, also known as Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP), is a semi-permanent procedure that can last up to two years. Results may vary, and it is important to touch up your SMP every few years to keep the results looking fresh and natural. With proper aftercare, you can expect your SMP treatment to last for many years to come.
